Check your wheel bearing. This happened to one of my other vehicles, you described by situation exactly. Luckily for you, the 4Runner only requires a bearing and not an entire hub assembly!

Story of my life. I just finished an install that's taken some sweet time. I made a little panel that fits on top of the evap crap and uses the evap boxes mounting holes. Ended up having to cut out some of the hood's support braces to fit. NO FRIGGEN ROOM. best of luck to you!
