I got the Magnaflow. I like how it sounded on my other 98 4Runner. Some reviews say it has a bit of DRONE.
I don’t drive it all the time BUT I had no problem with a 70 mile commute that was about 2/3 interstate driving. Some of that was with windows down listening to it.
Past week work
My “PATRIOT” White 4Runner got New front brake pads & calipers and New exhaust system.
A lot of work remains BUT it runs and drives well.
New to Me 98
On Sept 1, 2022, I lost my Friend and Neighbor Evan. He served our Country as a Marine Helicopter Mechanic for 12 years. He was a great friend. We wrenched on our 4Runners together when we could and were always checking out each other's projects and sharing helpful tips.

Front End Rebuilt on Ol Roscoe
I have been working on Roscoe for a while. Progress has been slow out in the driveway when weather allows. Last year I did REAR END - Factory Locker 4:30 ratio. That didn't match my 4:10 front SO got the FRONT diff out today. Going to have it rebuilt and...
Great find Clearock! Funny how listings work. I search for MANUAL transmission stuff a lot and over have the crap has an automatic. Seems people don't understand the difference anymore. I wish you well in all your endeavors with your NEW 4Runner.
Don't trust the OLD factory cross bars
Best wishes in carrying your kayaks and other stuff on adventures in your 4Runner. I learned the hard way about using the OLD crossbars. On 2 different trips while kayaks were on top (using Malone folding kayak carriers) the factory cross bars started...
I have the in channel weather tech ones a few years now. The first couple times the window motors worked a little harder. After the visors found their positions there have been no issues. They haven't got loose and I have had no problems. Highly recommend them. Great product and great quality.
console upgrade
I got a 99 up style console with cupholders from a salvage yard with the off set e-brake handle, mounts and hardware. Got it installed a couple weeks ago. Today, I got the rear window switch relocated to where the clock used to be. Nice to be able to hold 2 big cups and roll...
Used rear locker
I lost the rear end in my 98 "Roscoe" last August. I looked at having it rebuilt. Found a nice USED Factory Locker for under $1000 shipped to my driveway. Less than 100K miles from Texas and it had original 22 year old paint on it with almost no rust at all. Installed...
Factory E-Locker
at 305K miles I lost the seal on the rear axle passenger side. Pretty good service life. I have been wanting a Factory E-Locker for a while and it seems like a great time to do that. The adventure begins......
First axle the local yard located, I went to pick up and was the...
Roscoe roof racks
A few days ago, completed installing NEW Rhino Rack heavy duty cross bars to the factory roof rack. I regularly haul a couple kayaks in the summer and the factory cross bars metal got fatigued on the ends. Was an accident waiting to happen. New racks are extruded aluminum...
Radiator fan slung a blade - watch out!
Well, I found out plastic radiator fans don't last forever. Funny thing is I removed it 4000 miles ago when doing Timing Belt job.
inspected and didn't see any cracks. I knew I should've changed it.......Good thing to do when you change your radiator...
Congratulations on ALL your effort! That's a great looking bumper and I would be interested in one for my daily driver. I like the reduced weight while keeping the strength, off road function and clean factory appearance. Great Job!
