Wheel bearings? Are your backing plates bolted tight to the axle flange?

The PO of my new '90 decided to get crazy with a pair of wire cutters! Seems like everything under the hood of this truck has been pulled off and reinstalled with a single bolt or left hanging. Just noticed today that the driver side valve cover has 3 bolts finger tight holding it on! Who knows...

The only way to completely stop rust is to cut it out and replace. Not sure if these trucks are old enough for someone to make quality replacement parts. You might have to fab up your own. There are plenty of good videos on youtube about forming and shaping patch panels. I might have to look...

You might try Trail Gear, they make a nice relatively inexpensive tube bumper.

All's I know is overhead light bars suck in the dust! Out in Glamis or Ocotillo they are about worthless if you're following. Amber lenses cut the dust a little. Might be good for the trail though, never tried.

If you scroll all the way to the bottom it mentions that is had 1 respray and "year correct" decals added, along with OME suspension upgrades. I doubt it's an SR5, my guess is just a sticker kit.

This was my first toyota since my 4x4 '83 sr5 longbed that got stolen in highschool. '96 Tacoma with 318k on the gauge. Wanted to make a expeditionary rig out of it, but decided to keep it for what it was originally purchased for, to park the F350. So I bought a '90 4runner instead.

A buddy's '86. His parents bought it brand new.

New to the site and new to the world of 4runners. Just read through this thread, very nice build! This is pretty much how I want my '90 to turn out, lot of good inspiration.

Here is a '90 I just picked up upon very recently moving to Montana. It's been off the road a while and the 3.0 needs work, but she's clean, solid and straight. Will be a good little project.
