    02 4runner seeping differential oil

Wow that is very encouraging. Thanks and a like. Do you happen to know how thick the metal on the pumpkin is?

    02 4runner seeping differential oil

Well the main concern here is trying to get 600 miles to home without a catastrophic failure, where I can work on it. There is no oil on the front of the unit, only on the rear. Seems to be leaking from right behind the parking brake cable support. Have not been able to find a decent diagram to...

    02 4runner seeping differential oil

Pretty rusty rear differential. Seeping oil that covers only the bottom 2/3rds of the back of it. No idea where the leak is, or whether it is just penetrating thin rust somewhere. Drips down on the pavement when sitting, not that much, but when driving is coated with oil in maybe 10 miles...

    Identify This Filter???

About sums it up. Been doin' my own (TIG) welding as of late tho, where is Chewie? The holes are from wire brushing the snot out of it to clear the codes.

    Identify This Filter???

Dunno, but he must have paid north of $400 for it 'cuz it has all the electronics built in for the computer. Don't know about yours, but my truck isn't a garage princess. After running a few hundred miles in the dirt and getting a lean code I simply wire brushed the element to get home. Try...

    Identify This Filter???

Yah I think the simple replace filter element by diameter option would work. The base system must have been some big $$ as it has all the electronics to satisfy the computer. A simple tube and conical filter setup is over $300 from K&E: K&N Performance Air Intake System | 77-3110KP They claim...

    Identify This Filter???

Got the 3Gen with this filter and have no idea what type it is, there is no marking. The element does not seem to be replaceable, it seems to be a one piece metal element and the pores are too small for oil. Anybody know what brand it is and whether it is possible to replace just the front...

The 3rd Gen All Questions Allowed Thread

Thanks everybody for the help. Results are in: Used this spacer: kt09107bk | Rear Leveling Kit -1-1/2 in | 4Runner 96-02| Daystar $42/set new. Using these instructions: https://www.daystarsuspensionparts.com/installation_instructions/daystar/p10503.pdf Added the step of unbolting the parking...

The 3rd Gen All Questions Allowed Thread

Hmmm, that is interesting. The external bump stop you show should work then. The spacers are installed by pulling the cone out of the spring, inserting the cone into the spacers, then inserting the remaining cone into the spring. This adds a couple inches to the length of the spring, lifting the...

The 3rd Gen All Questions Allowed Thread

My spacers are cylinders that surround the bump stops on top of the springs. They actually extend the springs on top. The bump stops are cones that fit inside the spring on top and hit the axle if the spring gets too short.

    Extended/High articulation CV Axle

Purchased a gen3 lifted by somebody else. They put OME 890s in back and merely put a spacer on the struts in front to match the resulting rear lift. This resulted in a ton of positive camber and the tires wore out on the outside edges. It eventually resulted in a blown CV seal. My response was...

The 3rd Gen All Questions Allowed Thread

That would be a good option if I didn't have brand new powder coated springs with no rust. Gonna sell the OME 890's though if anybody's interested. Looked around and saw some spacers < $50. Some questions I would have: 1. The instructions essentially say 'jack up the car, unbolt the shocks and...

The 3rd Gen All Questions Allowed Thread

OK so my tale of woe: Bought an '02 with OME nitrogen shocks and OME (890?) springs installed in back. They were using it to haul heavy stuff. The combo lifted the back so they merely put spacers on the struts in front to level it off. Problem number one with the setup was that the front axles...
