    HOW-TO: grease your drive shaft

I did a lube job about two weeks ago on my 2021 SR5 4WD with 63K miles. For the slide yoke zerk, I probably pumped at least 10 times. Nothing came out then, and nothing has come out yet. Today I tried removing the zerk. I can see fresh grease in the hole, but it's not coming out. I bounced...

    Transporting kayak

Transporting kayak inside 4Runner I recently got a 10' Pelican Brume sit-inside kayak. So far I've been transporting it by simply rolling down the back window and stuffing it inside. :thumb: The nose is nestled against the back of the passenger seat and the center console. I put an old hand...

New tires to the market Goodyear Wrangler Ultraterrain AT

Unfortunately, I can't agree: I've run a number of different tires for "off-roading", but never before had a flat while off the highway. I got a sidewall puncture last summer (2022) in one of these. In this case I only had to travel a couple hours to a Discount Tire to get a replacement (these...

New tires to the market Goodyear Wrangler Ultraterrain AT

Maybe once upon a time the Wildpeak was half the price, but not now. Currently on the Discount Tire site, in 265/70/17, both SL load range: GY Wrangler UT AT is $206 Falken Wildpeak A/T3W is $190 Or maybe you were comparing just the purchase price of a set of Falkens, vs the installed price...

    Ditch light questions..

I want to install some "ditch lights" as cornering lights. Once the lights are angled for that use, does that introduce any conflict when the hood is opened all the way? I've seen videos for CaliRaised and other installations, and they all show no conflicts...but they all have the lights...

Bedding down operation for parking ("emergency") brake?

Looks like I'll be getting a new 2021 4Runner soon. :thumb3: So I was perusing the "Breaking in your new Toyota" section of the manual. Most of it looks pretty standard, but this caught my eye: Of particular interest: "...needs bedding-down of the brake shoes periodically." What is the...

Yet another 4Runner wheel balance problem...

What worked for me (and others I've talked to) is a static balance. I don't know why your ego is tied up in promoting road forcing as the one and only solution. If it solved the problem for you, great. It clearly doesn't work for everyone, for whatever reason.

Wheel balance problems - static balance helped a lot

Update Update: about 6500 miles after the static balance, still doing well. I occasionally get a little steering wheel shimmy after hopping on the highway or freeway. But that only lasts a minute or so, and 99+ percent of the time, it's good at highway speeds, no steering wheel shimmy or...

What would you like to see in a 6th gen?

When? Are there any updates that come from sources other than unofficial clickbait YT channels and such? It's already July 2021 and no word yet (AFAIK) when this 6th gen will appear. Apparently not in 2022, which is the 13th model year of the 5th gen. :bored: I've seen 2023 mentioned, but...

Wheel balance problems - static balance helped a lot

It sucks to be one of the "chosen few" with these balance problems. Hopefully you figure it out. On a related note, I recently drove a brand new Wrangler Unlimited (4-door) Rubicon with 33" off-road tires. Smooth as could be at 65 MPH. Yes, it's brand new and my 4Runner has 50K miles on...

Wheel balance problems - static balance helped a lot

I haven't, but it's an interesting idea. If the shimmy again becomes a consistent problem, I might go back and suggest that.

Yet another 4Runner wheel balance problem...

Clown poster, LOL. Just because road force worked for you, doesn't mean it's the solution for everyone. It didn't work for me, and it was done at multiple shops, including a dealership. Plenty of other people on here have also got no relief from road forcing the tires.

Yet another 4Runner wheel balance problem...

Seems you got upset when your pet solution (road forcing) didn't work for me! I wonder what you'll say about this development? https://www.toyota-4runner.org/5th-gen-t4rs/297933-wheel-balance-problems-static-balance-helped-lot.html#post3644209

Wheel balance problems - static balance helped a lot

I'm one of the "lucky few" who have long-running wheel balance problems. These manifested as steering wheel shimmy and/or vibrations from the rear. Here's a lengthy thread detailing my problems, and things I tried to fix them...

    Newbie Question - KDSS

Nice parking lot! :D J/K, which BB roads did they drive? Perhaps I should have specified that I don't see those vehicles actually wheeling out on the trails. Then again, few 4Runners are driven in those conditions either! :lmao: And most of the places I go I hardly see anyone at all. Also...
