    P0171 - What else can I check??

...Except when they are related to actually being lean, as was my case...needed a new fuel pump at 170k miles. Rebooted the whole fuel system at that point, been fine since. The code pops up because the computer is detecting not enough fuel(or too much air) in bank 1 and has had to compensate...

Using a TRD Radiator Cap with Possible Head Gasket Leak

The water pump just does what it's name indicates, it pumps. The radiator cap is designed to lift at a certain pressure, and the trd cap is rated higher than stock because it helps to keep everything from boiling over, hence why it's a high performance cap. That being said, if you have a...

Any members from around Ventura or Santa Barbra?

I can't bust my front Axel Nut loose to change my front axel

You need an impact gun, and a decent one, to bust the axle nut loose. It's fastened at around 171 ft/lb plus time and wear, so it's not supposed to come off easy. Alternative is a jack stand under the breaker bar so you can stand on the handle and try to break it under your body weight. Not the...

Engine Gremlins 04 V6 (plus some mods info)

As to the steering vibrations: I would think wheels unbalanced would be noticable at most speeds, getting increasingly worse as you go faster. Thinking more along the lines of ball joints there. As to engine shudder: vacuum leak? Do you have any fuel trim info or live data? Don't think mounts...

    2003 V6 Original Spark Plugs

Idle air control AND throttle position sensor are RIVETED to the throttle body on the 4.0. only solution would be replace the throttle body, though I would only go that route if due diligence didn't pay off with the vacuum lines, you'd be amazed what a vacuum leak can do to a modern engine

200k+ miles 4th gens have you replaced your radiator?

Swapped mine out for all aluminum unit at 200k, along with hoses, wp, fan, clutch and stat. Figured I might as well reboot the whole thing since I primarily use my rig for adventures. Now sitting at 207460, working well.

    07 Alternator advice

Followed a similar route: went 240a and did the big 3 upgrade. Had it for over a year, works well.

    Battery 4.0 V6

Factory size for 4.0 is 24F. Wondering if you can find it under "Hilux surf", pretty sure that's what it's called in Europe

    Alternator Removal

Seems ill-advised. Not sure I've ever seen that on a 4runner before. About all you need for room is to remove that filter( would be nice to know why it was put there) and I usually take my battery out when I'm going after the alternator, give me more access.

What did you do with your 4runner today?

Looks like the one lower left of the outer ring is in femoral artery territory, still lethal. Nice looking piece!

E-locker 8.2 Install Looking for EWD

So if you are looking for an e-locker diagram, it's going to be 2009 v6, because that was the only year it was available. Was never available in v8. Not sure that will help, you could always look around the LC forums since those vehicles actually ran v8s with lockers

E-locker 8.2 Install Looking for EWD

My understanding is that due to economic downturn, there were no v8 4runners made in 2009. This was a point of discussion elsewhere on this forum where the 2009 trail edition was talked about, which was the one trim package that came for the 4th gen with an e-locker. Also, pretty sure our rear...

    Rear door wiring harness boot

I actually searched for this, came up mostly empty. Bought some used off the forum, but they were as trashed as the ones on my rig. Tried using some land cruiser replacement boots to no avail. Wound up using a combination of plastic split wire loom cut to length, then wrapped with electrical...
