I'm the same way regarding the 2014 update. I don't care for the 'predator face' but the removal of the rocker covers on the SR5 and trimming the bumper bottoms to improve approach/departure angles totally transformed the look of the truck IMO, much more like a 3rd gen with the running boards...

RE: plugs and wires make sure you use the OE-spec dual electrode NGKs. I also highly recommend OEM sparkplug wires over even something like NGK, which i otherwise hold in high regard. Reason being, I had some wet-weather misfires, traced to a mis-formed plug boot. Bought OEM on amazon Prime...

I very strongly suspect a poorly seated spark plug wire boot on the coils. I had this exact issue, except not as severe with my '96. After a rainy night I'd get a misfire under load, but it would idle smooth. Once the truck warmed up and the moisture evaporated, all was well. Tracked down...

I noticed this as well. This is always a HUGE red flag for me for any northern truck. Honestly, my guess is either an unreported accident repair, or a rollback, and/or a more serious rust issue that's been masked with a quick and cheap coat of rubberized undercoating. Worth a look if it's not...

Thanks! Yeah I went the junkyard route (for $20, who can argue) after a local driveshaft shop screwed up the balance on my original shaft, and installed a nasty Neapco u joint in it to boot.

That underside doesn't look too bad at all OP.

Priceless little gadget IMO, I just wish my '96 could display trans temperature. Really helped me out a few times identifying CELs and such, and nice for keeping track of MPG. Can track distance to empty as well, nice to have with our notoriously flaky fuel gauges when you get near "E."

Bad idea IMO, it will only serve as a trap for moisture, which in turn may cause severe rust issues down the road.
