Get some rustproofing oil spray and coat the entire vehicle if you do t already get it sprayed yearly? Both my 4runners are oil coated/rustproofed twice a year. If your in an area where salt is used in winter its the only way to stay ahead of rust!

I have the Bilstein 4600(yellow/blue) on both my 4runners and I don't have any complaints, I tow with both, run lots of forest service roads etc......no issues and both 4runners are daily driven. Had KYB's on before and I have found the Bilsteins to better suit my needs.

Pushing 440k on my 98, I'd keep it I'm hoping to hit a million.

You can try JB weld but its a temporary patch in the end it will leak again. I patched mine for a few months but it eventually leaked again as I knew it would. Hard to get a good bond the cover is so saturated with oil that's the problem. Check out Barnes4wd, they sell a weld on aftermarket...

If you live in an area where they use salt it could be rusted through, just replaced my Diff cover this past winter. Noticed a wet area one day and sure enough there were small pinhole leaks, had to weld a new cover on, fixed the issue its like new again. Good luck, hope yours is just a seal.

IMO Krown is the best I'm a Krown guy. I can go on and on about old vehicles in my family that have been Krowned since they rolled off the lot that are still in mint condition, nowhere in the world do they use more salt and calcium then in the city of Ottawa! I know this as I work for the city...
