Or the nut has come loose... A couple of months after replacing rear wiper arm my daughter had the same symptom but in this case it was just the nut holding the wiper arm had come loose under the cover trim piece. Easy fix.

Hmmm. Not sure if this is the same thing, but on the wiring diagram here 2006 Nav - Wiring it does specifically show "R18 Rear Seat Audio Controller" output. Maybe this is a reference to the new DVD entertainment system you referred to and not the audio-only rear seat option the 2005 had...
