    How to change o2 sensor

Confirming V6 locations I got ambiguous info from my general shop who said that the check engine was related to an O2 sensor, but that it was rusted on and I needed to go to an exhaust shop to have a new mount welded on. I delayed and left the car mostly parked (Wife and I both work from home...

Intake Air hose leak: Temp fix?

Haven't measured fuel economy (been bad about that the last couple of years) but pretty sure it's using more fuel, probably using a "protect the engine" mode with a rich fuel mixture, so a temp fix should help with fuel costs on the trip.

Intake Air hose leak: Temp fix?

Yeah, and of course AC ducts have the same pressure difference as the intake hose! (Actually, I don't know the intake pressure differential, but I do know that AC manufacturers say that "duct tape" is actually NOT to be used on ducts. The tape they use now is apparently much better at lasting...

Intake Air hose leak: Temp fix?

My intake air hose is cracking and leaking, causing lean bank codes. (Shop said it, and attached pic shows apparent cracking (close to throttle body).) I'm probably going to go with a K&N intake since I'd already be spending on replacing that piece. Is there a temporary fix for a trip I'm...

Limited Fender Flare / Cladding Removal and Re-Install

My cladding (on a 2000 limited) is coming loose on my passenger rear door. I just need a few of the clips (white on mine). They're the ones along the top of the curve over the rear wheel-well. I originally said they looked more like the ones that are actually for 2003-on 4Runners. They actually...

T-shirt store is up and running

It's nice to have the option and I was just about to pull the trigger on the 3rd gen, but the 2X was an additional $5. I can see adding a bit for the larger sizes, but $5 is too much. I'll stick with my usual $10 bargain tees.

    FS: 2000 4Runner SR5 4WD manual w/ supercharger - Black, $6,000, Atlanta

I'm already missing the manual transmission (and the power, but not as much) even though it hasn't even been picked up yet. (Tags are off and it's now officially not mine, so no drive.)

    TPMS programmer?

Some people fail to search at all. Other people prefer to belittle rather than help. (Yes, I've searched and failed to find my question and been served with a similar verbal assault on my intelligence when asking it. Actually, the one who commented on my question did at least post links to...

    Which 4Runner to keep?

I have a 2000 Limited. (Full time 4WD for patchy snow, etc. because we get that so much in Georgia) My cousin has a 2000 SR5 stick with supercharger. Both had timing belts, etc. done about 40k miles ago. Mine has 200k, his has 170. I'll be picking his up this weekend to sell. But, do I sell...

    Mass air flow sensor

This is a testament to using search before asking questions and the value of appropriate pictures. The videos on youtube show the MAF facing up for easy access while mine is on the side and well obscured from any normal screwdriver. The picture in the link showing a screw bit in vise grip solved...

    Emergency Brake Light appears randomly

I got a "front brake pads soon" but not a recommendation to replace now from my mechanic when I had them replace my starter (needed my car, no time to do the starter contact fix myself) a month or two ago. Should I feel safe in a car where the light occasionally goes on (more on uphill and...

Starting issue with a BIG twist

So, I had what I assumed was the typical bad starter contacts on my 2000 4Runner with 198k miles on it. Then tonight while struggling to get contact (I would either get a click and a hum or a hum when turning the key, or sometimes it would begin turning the starter then lose connection) and a...
