My bad. You are correct. I knew the correct term, but wasn't thinking when I wrote that. Thanks for clarifying!

    has anyone noticed this

I was actually thinking about the slip yokes today as I was driving. I'm not a physics expert, but I would think it'd make sense in that the most harsh upshift would be the 1-2 due to the effort to start off accelerating the mass. The only thing hanging up that theory is the fact that mine only...

    has anyone noticed this

I've tried to use the same amount of throttle (very little) and shift at the same RPM. While it is still present in mine during the conditions, I can barely feel it. This is a weird one...

    has anyone noticed this

Developments? Any other developments on this issue? My 8/2011 Trail has started to become more noticeable after about the 8,000 mile mark. I'm especially curious on: 1. Of those with trannies replaced, did that cure your issues after 10,000 miles? From the 4 threads I've read, the results seem...

Fat Cat roof clearance with 5th Gen OEM crossbars

I have the Fat Cat 6 on my Trail using the factory crossbars. I have had all kinds of skis on mine without a problem, including some with some pretty tall risers. The Fat Cat has built-in tilt bars in case you need the extra height, but you shouldn't. Mine clears my garage with no problem, as well.

    Transfer and differential Oil change

Post Break-In Just changed front diff, rear diff, and transfer case at 5,000 miles. The rear diff was really dark with a decent amount of very fine shavings on the magnet. The front diff was about half as dark with fewer fine shavings on the magnet. The transfer case was very clear with almost...

    Windshield ticks, creaks, noises

Same here. The drivers side seems slightly worse than the rest of the windshield. Sounds like more towards the bottom than top. EDIT: BTW, good find on the TSB. I can see that problem causing the noise we are hearing. I would think they would have addressed the issue with the new body style...

Rattles and creaks.... How much patience do you have?

Same here, except my driver side seems louder than the passenger side. It also seems to be worse the colder the interior is. I have tried to pinpoint this by looking everywhere from the dash to the outside lower windshield trim pieces, only to no avail. I am really surprised by Toyota's plastic...

    Front Differential

Thanks for the reply! As far as the front inner CV joints, here is a good video depicting the play: Front diff play - YouTube I have read multiple threads in Tacoma and FJ forums about this being normal. As long as it isn't eating seals, it is nothing to worry about. Being brand new 4Runners...

    Tailgate Emblem Removal TE

From deka3's first link: "It's not flat under them though as there are 4 indentations in the chrome plastic handle part to help line up the 4-r-u-n-n-e-r badge when it was installed."

    Tailgate Emblem Removal TE

Sorry, upon looking at the parts catalog it appears the emblem is separate from the pull assembly. They list the part as "Nameplate (Adhesive)", so I'm guessing that it's glued or taped down. I've never pulled mine, so these are guesses based on looking at paper. EDIT: jca beat me to the...

    Tailgate Emblem Removal TE

From looking at the repair manual, it appears that there are 4 nuts on the back of the emblem holding it on. I'd assume removing rear door panels would allow access to this. I've attached what I'm seeing...

    Front Differential

I'm not as worried about the front CV joints, as I can find some documentation of people having play. It seems to be normal. I am more interested in the propeller shaft rotational play at the flange. I would really appreciate someone crawling underneath their SR5 or Trail...

    Front Differential

I meant to specify, when rotating the front propeller shaft, the twisting force is pretty decent and going back and forth from "clunk to clunk". From "clunk to clunk" I have around the 20 degree total play. I did check the rear diff, which is a little more difficult without removing the drive...
