    What brand of tire?

What brand of tire comes on the '08 Limited? Is it a good all-weather tire? Should I get the dealer to swap to something else? My 4Runner is being picked up at another dealer a couple hundred miles away. I do not yet know what tires are on it. Al

    Tire Pressure Monitor TSB

Very informative posts. The reason I found this thread is because my 1-month-old 2007 4Runner suddenly started showing a *blinking* tire pressure warning light tonight. All tire pressures checked out normal, so this appears to be some sort of malfunction in the monitoring system itself...

Do you like the 5-speed tranny?

I had a 2004 Limited with 4-speed auto and just got a '07 Limited with 5-speed. It's different and I haven't decided if I like it or not. I notice shift changes more at low speeds, and it seems to downshift and "drag" much sooner than the old tranny when reducing speed. It also seems noisier...

    HVAC Delay?

The heating system is smart enough to mercfully not blow cold air on you until the radiator water has warmed enough. Works the same way as a gas furnace in your home.

    Instrument Lighting

When I got my '04, the lighted instuments were only in the Limited. I just got a new '07 Limited, and I think it's still true that it's the only version with lighted instruments. I could be wrong.

    Voice Command Question

Thanks guys. This answers my question. I guess the manual writers added the climate control commands just to confuse us. I can understand why they wouldn' work if the climate control system is not managed by the nav system screen. Any tips on how to get better results with the voice...

    Voice Command Question

I just got my 2007 Limited with Nav system. It came with a supplemental user guide to the nav system but doesn't list voice commands. Another very small "getting started" booklet lists the commands but it doesn't totally agree with the on-screen help guide's list of commands. Many of the...

Help - Nav System or Not?

Thanks for the thoughtful replies. I had forgotten about the backup camera with the nav system. That's cool. Yeah, the price is a little steep and I don't know if my dealer is actually going to order many vehicles with the system on them. I guess that will be the thing that makes the difference...

Help - Nav System or Not?

I'm going for my new 2007 Limited in a few days and am debating getting the Nav system. I assume it's pretty much the same as the 2006 system. I definitely want a nav system but don't know if the Toyota built-in is the best choice. Should I go with something like the Pioneer in-dash or maybe...

    Maglight vs. Surefire

I just got the Fenix P1. Running on a rechargeable 123 battery it's by far the brightest single-cell flashlight I have. I already had the Fenix L1P modifed for 2-stage brightness. Would like to have the L1T and L2T.

    Maglight vs. Surefire

Hey, it's not the length, it's the breadth. Besides, in flashlights and other matters of life, it's not size that counts.

    Maglight vs. Surefire

I'm not necessarily saying that there's something wrong with Mags. It's just that the flashlight world has advanced beyond that technology. My 5" ASP Triad (incandescent) or 5" Surefire L4 (LED) easily outshine my old heavy 5-D-cell 21" Mag. Of course, I can't beat someone to death with my...

    Maglight vs. Surefire

The E2D would be an excellent choice. However, I would also suggest looking at LED options and models. Advantages are no bulbs to burn out, longer battery life, more light spill, not prone to bulb burnout due to vibration and impact, purer white light (not yellow), and electronic regulation that...

    Maglight vs. Surefire

That's OK if you don't see the fascination that some people have with flashlights. Everyone is different. Personally, I don't see the fascination that some folks have with guns -- an expensive toy that hurls little pieces of metal at high speeds. A Surefire flashlight is not much different --...
