Very informative posts. The reason I found this thread is because my 1-month-old 2007 4Runner suddenly started showing a *blinking* tire pressure warning light tonight. All tire pressures checked out normal, so this appears to be some sort of malfunction in the monitoring system itself...

I had a 2004 Limited with 4-speed auto and just got a '07 Limited with 5-speed. It's different and I haven't decided if I like it or not. I notice shift changes more at low speeds, and it seems to downshift and "drag" much sooner than the old tranny when reducing speed. It also seems noisier...

The heating system is smart enough to mercfully not blow cold air on you until the radiator water has warmed enough. Works the same way as a gas furnace in your home.

When I got my '04, the lighted instuments were only in the Limited. I just got a new '07 Limited, and I think it's still true that it's the only version with lighted instruments. I could be wrong.

Thanks for the thoughtful replies. I had forgotten about the backup camera with the nav system. That's cool. Yeah, the price is a little steep and I don't know if my dealer is actually going to order many vehicles with the system on them. I guess that will be the thing that makes the difference...
