Head gasket blown, bad cat, etc.,etc...

Update Hey fellas. Just an update. Had all 4 O2 sensors with Denso's replaced last night and truck ran great. My guy only asked for $25 for install. I hooked him up with more just because I am thankful to have him. Drove 50.3 miles without a CEL and whipped in to an emissions place and it...

Yes, here in Georgia we have to pass emissions which for me is in two weeks on my birthday. Happy birthday to me, huh? Apparently, aftermarket cats are junk and don't last so I have been advised that Toyota cats are the best option. Thanks Chmura for the good advice. The first estimate I...

Status update Hi there guys. Thanks again for all of your advice and also your kind words that have made me feel better. As it stands, I am having to replace both cats because I drove on it misfiring for a week. I was told by Kaufmann Tire that it was completely fine to drive like that. I...

The mechanic that changed the coils is the one that inspected the car.

I am prepared to sue the mechanic that inspected it 30 days ago. My first instinct is to get a lawyer because he tried to muscle me into unnecessary repairs. Also, he overlooked obvious repairs that are in the hundreds to fix. In addition, overlooking the gasket issue.

Sorry. Sorry. I actually did not need a serpentine belt as he said I did.

Head gasket blown, bad cat, etc.,etc...

I am so tired I am so tired of trying to right wrongs. I did contact the previous owner and he played dumb. My issue is with the mechanic that inspected the vehicle and gave it a clean bill of health. However, he told me at the point of inspection that I needed a serpentine belt and brake...

Thanks Gentleman! Thank you everyone that have posted! I am so thankful for your insight and opinions. Invaluable information that I can carry with me as I deal with this crisis. I am just a chick that loves 4Runners and thought that it would be a no brainer buying another one. I know...

Sealant to fix the leak? Second opinion reveals there is a small leak in the gasket but may be able to be fixed with a sealant to stop the leak. Cat is definitely bad but replacing that along with the O2 sensors will get my engine light off so that I can pass emissions. The bad cat was a...

I talked to the kid that inspected the vehicle. He said my coolant was just a little low and it was not mixing. Good news.

V6 140,000 miles It's a V6. 140,000 miles. I have some service records that came with the car. Coil pack #5 was replaced twice last year. Coil pack #2 was replaced in November. It appears it was pulling a cat code then. I didn't get these records until he turned over the keys. Maybe the...

Thanks TFJ. I would love some help with this. It's hard doing this alone. I was told to get a second from Theo's in PTC. Also, thanks CAN for the info about the exhaust seal. I am going to print that out!

Thanks everyone! Thanks everyone! I am looking to get a second opinion. I noticed a water rushing sound but only when I accelerated from a dead stop. I heard it when I bought it but it wasn't as pronounced. This is one of the reasons I took it in. I thought it might be air in the lines. I...

Just got the truck a month ago and got the good news today. Check engine light was on pulling a P0420 and the VSC Trac lights were on as well. Anyone else experience this? 140,000 miles. I haven't even made my first payment on the damn thing. Total cost of repair is $4889.35. What to do...

    P0420 code. Please help!

Thanks Cabowally. I had done a search before posting but didn't get as many threads as what just came up. Maybe because I am a member now. I am fearful I may have damaged my cat by driving while misfiring for a week. I was assured it would not do any damage.
