Great to hear about the improved ride. I know mine was a big difference when I replaced everything up front.
Yeah you can definitely polish the paint on the cladding and flares.
If you're using a DA polisher you don't really need to worry too much about getting them too hot, just keep the polisher moving don't hammer one spot too long and you should be fine.

Finally messed with this when I rebuilt my front suspension. Rears of lca are now all the way out, fronts all the way in, SPC's set at neutral setting. Now have plenty of room for the tire and no more rubbing!
I had them on mine before I was lifted. 265/75/16 I really liked them, very quiet and did well in the snow. Didn't notice much difference in gas mileage, I've always gotten around 15-18 mpg.
