Questions for those who have replaced their LBJ's

As long as you leave the tie rod ends alone, you shouldn't need an alignment. Although it is recommended to have an alignment immediately after replacing the lower ball joints, I waited for a while before having it aligned, and had no problems.

Questions for those who have replaced their LBJ's

If you whack the ball joint right where the tie rod attaches, often it'll just drop out. I've also used the puller to put pressure on the tie rod, then whack the side of the ball joint to get it to drop out. Last time I did it, I just used the puller and zipped it off with an impact. No...

Questions for those who have replaced their LBJ's

I used both the tie rod end puller and the pitman arm puller when I changed mine. It was a lot easier than trying to deal with other methods of separating those parts. If you use the SST designed for the lower ball joint, it'll fit right up. But if you use a pitman arm puller, you'll likely...

Programming Instructions for keyless entry remote?

Bumping this thread to share my experience. I've only had one FOB since I've owned this 4runner, and recently purchased a pair of FOBs off of Amazon. I've had to replace the FOB shell multiple times, but figured it was probably time to also have a spare. They had the same FCC numbers, so I...

WTB: 3rd Gen complete stock rear bumper - Black Sport Edition. DFW area.

Looking to buy a complete factory original rear bumper to fit an 01-02 Black Sport Edition or color-matched (Black) Limited. I need everything aside from the mud flaps (but will take them too if I have to). I know a lot of you are swapping out to off-road bumpers, and I just want an...

Stutter under heavy acceleration no codes, no CEL

I had a similar stuttering issue under any sort of heavy acceleration. It felt like transmission slipping, but was actually a misfire. It took about a month of driving before I finally got a CEL code to come on. I replaced all coils and plugs and that fixed it. They had never been...

FS: Five 3rd Gen 99-02 Rubber Cup Holder Inserts - Texas - Will Ship

Just curious, what salvage yards are you finding so many 3rd gens at in the DFW area? I never seem to see any at any of the local Pick-n-Pulls I've been to.

    Lower Ball Joint Variations

Checked my original packing slip, and the numbers 4333039585 and 4334039465 posted above are indeed what I used on my 02. Boots fit just fine with those part numbers.

Parting out Several 3rd Gen 99-2001 (N East - NH)

not to hijack from the original thread, but I may have one. It's aftermarket, but came with my replacement housing and I'm not using it. It would be for a driver-side housing, but I'm assuming both sides are the same.

    Lower Ball Joint Variations

I'll have to check my parts box at home and see if I still have the packing slip, but I'm fairly confident I am using the same #, and reused the boots. They slip over and are held in place by the same bolts that hold the LBJ on.

Parting out Several 3rd Gen 99-2001 (N East - NH)

Haven't read every page, so apologies if it's been missed. But I could go for that 01 black driver's side rear-view mirror assembly. Basically everything that is attached to the door, plus the mirror itself, if it's all in good shape. And also the plastic exterior trim that surrounds the...
