I'll check out the instructions here. 265/75/16 is what I had before...I guess I felt like they could have been bigger. It just seemed like there was a ton of space in my wheel well. Maybe the black paint job will give them the look of being bigger.

I'm glad I asked. The guy at the tire shop was pretty convinced I would be fine but I had my doubts. If I stay stock with the 16" rims, what is the beefiest tire size I could go with? I saw a post at FJ Cruiser forums (link below) about painting the wheels...I think I might go through this...

Hey guys New to the forum. I have been lurking here for a while and have decided to finally ask some questions I have been looking at some tires, 285/70/17R Cooper Discoverys and upgrading to a 17" rim. Is this going to be too massive? I want it to look amazing, but I don't have the money...
