    Drivers side power door lock

Is there any reason not to consider replacing the switch? Seems more likely than an intermittent open in the wiring. I've never had that switch apart to see if the part that moves the contacts could wear down to the point of being too short. Jumping the switch contacts would be the most...

    Odd RF problem

Well ... Replacing the alternator did not fix the problem. Any thoughts? Thx

    Odd RF problem

Disconnecting the alternator fixes the problem. I can hear a pulse on the audio when I lower the squelch, but it doesn't change with RPM. The Denso alternator is only about a year old. Thx

    Odd RF problem

No LED lights. The radio is wired directly to the battery and is in the side compartment in the left rear. The coax goes up and through the roof to the antenna mounted on a large aluminum rack. Maybe a 6ft feed line. It has worked in this configuration for at least a year. I tried replacing the...

Battery Drained overnight. What should I check?

I would still get the battery checked first. It's the easiest thing to check.

    Odd RF problem

I replaced the head unit in my 2001 because of bad radio reception, but it didn't fix the problem. Now my 2M VHF ham radio loses all reception whenever the engine is running. I don't have noise drowning out the FM signal. It's more like the signal is just being jammed. What could cause that much...

    Tow Truck Uh Oh

Heacock does agreed value with no mileage limitations. I don't know anything about them yet, but headed in that direction.

Trumpeting noise from high winds hitting door weatherstripping?

I have the same problem. Really gets my attention being so loud. I'll check the door and strip. Fwiw, "strip" is a noun in that sentence.

    Unexpected spark plug issue

Well... I cleaned off the excess dielectric grease and the anti-seize that had gotten on the tip of one plug. Re-installed the new plugs and no problems. Basically I got complacent doing something I've done a thousand times before. Thanks for all the help and tips. I learned something new about...

    Unexpected spark plug issue

The plugs came from Rock Auto. The only variable here is the plugs. New plugs misfire and old plugs don't. One of the new plugs did not discolor like the rest in the short time it ran. I'm guessing that one wasn't always firing. I'm thinking I may have gotten some copper anti-seize or something...

    Unexpected spark plug issue

Thanks. I re-installed the old plugs and it runs fine again. I'll try new coils with the new plugs.

    Unexpected spark plug issue

My newly acquired 2001 with 130k miles was running perfectly, so I decided to mess with it anyway. I replaced the NGK iridium single ground plugs with NGK Platinum dual ground plugs. Now I have a stumble at idle below 1000rpm. I confirmed the gap with a wire gap gauge. I replaced the wires with...

Bucket list 4runner in East TN

This is a bit of a do over. Looks like I joined in 2012 when I bought my first 4runner. That one didn't work out. I've been waiting for "the" right 4runner for years. I finally found a white, garage queen, 2001 with low miles. My plan was for an overland build, but now I kinda hate to mess it...

Right front axle play at the differential

I tried to smell the oil, check the viscosity etc. when I noticed the play. I didn't detect any gear lube, but everythings pretty soaked from the valve cover leaks. I'll replace the diff seal when I install the new alxles while changing the uneven brake disc while... Good times.
