BALL JOINTS: Sankei 555 (Moog/Raybestos) Poor Quality/Design Flaw??? My Findings...

I received this: “ Hi, The tie rods and ball joints we sell are made by 555 from Japan. They are OEM quality. The only difference is they come bare metal, or not painted, which is why they are cheaper than OEM. It is normal for bare metal to rust quickly in humid areas, such as Texas. Thank...

BALL JOINTS: Sankei 555 (Moog/Raybestos) Poor Quality/Design Flaw??? My Findings...

I just fired off an email to Lowrange. I replaced everything on the front end last year, July 2019, and somehow I missed the issue with 555 labeled parts. I bought from Lowrange and they were advertised as OEM Japanese. It’s been just over a year and the outer tie rods and LBJ’s are rusted to...

    1989 fender bender build

You are bringing that one back to life. Great find on an otherwise clean 4runner. For tire size, look into the 255/85/16 size. It will measure out to a tall 33, but skinny. If you want taller, the new BFG AT has a 34" size for 17" rims. Whatever you choose, keep up the good work!

    1st Gen T4R Picture Gallery

When I bought the truck back, the previous owner had a TJM on the front, and sliders and a rear bumper made of square tubing. After I dinged the rear corner on a rock, I had a local shop, Krawltex, in Austin, put all of the round tubing on. He did a great job in my opinion. He also added the...

Scion HU - retains OEM aux input jack in console?

thread revival: Scion AUX fix for 1808 stereo This fix works. I did my install a few years ago and I posted it up here in the main thread. However, about 2 years ago I realized that my AUX function was not working. It was not being recognized. I took out the switch and spent a few hours...

My old dog has no gitup!! Help

I had an 89 with a V6 and it ran surprisingly well. However, at about 145k the AFM or MAF computer went and I had to replace that. Later in it's life, it had a cycle of surging on the highway, almost like it was getting hit with a gust of wind and the wind would stop. I tried several fuel...

Body work and paint job soon!

There is a thread on YT that has the part number for a rubber black gasket that you can use instead of the chrome trim. Apparently, this was available in Japan, but not here. I think this is the thread: Eliminating the metal windshield trim aka rust maker - YotaTech Forums

    My trip to Ouray, Colorado!

It sounds like you were there the same time we were there. We came up from Austin, through Santa Fe and camped on a trail on our way to Creed. The next day, we finished that trail and did the Alpine loop into Silverton. It started pouring rain when we hit Silverton, so we headed up to Montrose...

    New "to me" 1st Gen

Check that area in front of the rear wheel wells that is covered by that plastic trim. Mine had a rust hole that I didn't even know existed until we removed it. You can cut and patch it up however you want and then recover it with the trim.

    New "to me" 1st Gen

Nice find. If you plan to put bigger tires on it, I would look into trimming the rust off. Just make sure that you do a clean cut or do the cut and tab method. I had an 89 SR5 for several years, loved it.

    Exo Roof Rack?

There was a guy on TTORA that was selling a roof rack for a 1st gen that had supports on the rear bumper and sliders. The last post from him said that someone was trying it out, so it might be sold. Here's the thread when it was for sale with the bumper attachment. I was wrong though. It...

    1984 Wine Red (AKA Brown)

There's a thread on yotatech that showed how many of each color there are registered by state. I couldn't find it, but if you spend a few minutes, you might be able to pull it up. I had one as a parts truck that was originally that color, but it had been painted over. I agree. That's a sharp...
