This is my 2004 4Runner SR5 6-cylinder 4.0. I got her back in 2015 with 195k, drove her on my commute to work every day for 5 years, and put another 90k highway miles on her. Now with 285,000 miles, the frame is rusted to the point where it won't pass inspection. So I am offering it for sale...

My mechanic says my '04 may not pass inspection. (sniff sniff)

A "little" back issue... never stays "little". I imagine you already know what you MUST do. But as T4R lovers, we totally understand your need to vent about it. We are hear to listen... and comfort you in your time of need... (and possibly get a deal on it...if you DO decide to sell it...)

Mine still works great! I am not overly thrilled with the Navi... (lacks some features that are in a Garmin) but the radio, USB player, and bluetooth work just fine.

Mine already look like doo-doo. So even a crappy paint job would be an improvement.

When i was looking for my 4R (I always wanted one) I was not finding anything in decent shape, at a decent price. (go figure) So my PLAN B was a Pathfinder. When this one finally rusts beyond repair, I will look at them first. But I am also considering a Highlander, now that they are beefier...

Does it fit on other T4R models?

I lock the keys in the truck... and put one single spare key on a spring clip or carabiner... and hook it to a belt loop. You could also buy one of those fake rocks with a secret compartment... and leave it near your truck, next to some real rocks.

Lighter fluid also works... but it smells just like Goo Gone, so it's probably the same recipe. Buy whichever is cheaper!

Perhaps the shop "adjusts" the price of the labor... based on whether they are supplying the parts.

I'm not sure that a car cover is made to reduce the heat. I thought it was just for protecting the finish from the weather. Their claim says it can "resist" dessert heat. (not the same thing) You are essentially covering your car with a "bag"... so naturally, it will keep the heat from escaping...

I have an '04 and hear it when I start up, as well. (not every time) I just figured it was coolant/water running through the heater.
