I have a very lightly used Whitson Metal Works custom roof rack for a 4th Gen. It has the full length mesh flooring and one crossbar about 3/4 towards the front. It was prepped, primed, and sprayed with a few coats of black bed liner. I'm located in NW AR and would be willing to meet somebody...
Understood, didn't intend to insult or anything, just curious. I never would have imagined that much work to be honest. I thought it was a simple as attaching some metal mesh onto the original grill. Nothing is ever as simple as it appears.
If you buy everything aftermarket I guess $350 isn't too steep. But you could fab the same thing or have someone do it for a fraction of the cost. Same goes for the bumper, but it's simply a forum and my opinion. Good luck.
I'm not sure that there would be a big difference in performance/ride quality between running the 5100s and Toytec coils compared to ICONS. But there is a LARGE difference in cost. Just my $.02.
Guys busting your balls about your unscientific method of stating that your rack doesn't cause a significant MPG decrease. Come on guys, really!!! If you don't need the rack then who cares? If you do actually need a roof rack, well you shouldn't be too concerned about .5 MPG loss. Forums are...
I find this interesting as quite a few folks have done the OME/5100 setup. I also find it interesting that Toytec uses 5100 struts in their "ultimate" setup and essentially they are accomplishing the lift by preloading the strut with their custom spanner deal. I honestly don't see ANY...
I'm curious what would happen if you used the OME medium coils with the 5100s set at one notch up from stock(.85) setting? How would the ride be and how much lift would this provide? I currently run the 5100s at the highest setting/FJ Coils and find the ride to be very compliant.
Nice setup! Any pics with the 285/75/17 Toyos on? I"m running 295/70/17 now and planning to try those next. Also, who did the rear swing-a-way carrier?
