2007 V-8 Sport Suspension Limited Loaded 40k 'out the door. It was the sales managers brand new demo so he didn't really want to let it go. He had it about a week.
I had same issue with 2007 Limited V-8. It's a legal issue actually. If an installer is found to have bypass parts in their shop by Clean Air Act/Environmental Protection agents, then the fines can be huge. So far, car owners with the SAIS bypass kits haven't been targeted. I have done...
Bypass
In my case I had to rely on a service station mechanic to install the bypass. In the process he broke some bolt putting the block plates in. I am at mercy of others unfortunately here. Toyota dealer finally figured it out. They were unaware of the bypass plates but finally found them...
Bypass kit uninstalled
I have the bypass kit on my desk. I had it uninstalled at Toyota dealer and the correct system put in because I wasn't going to deal with returning codes and 4Runner going limp. I'm very happy with results. It has it's original V-8 power. I need it to be 100%...
SAIS bypas
Back in 2019 I had the SAIS bypass done with block plates. Within a year the codes returned and after months of unreliable driving I went to Toyota dealer because I wanted it back to specs. My 4Runner was build in 10/06. It's a V-8 Ltd. with 125K miles.
The Toyota dealer...
Get this. I got the bypass done by my mechanic 1.5 years ago at 115K miles on my 2007 V-8 limited sport edition 4.7L. Cost me 750. or so. I cannot do these things myself.
Two weeks ago I caved and gave it to dealer to fix the dash lights coming and going and car dying. So far I'm out 2500. or so...

Ah yes!!!!! 'Properly installed bypass'. Mine probably wasn't.
Can't say for sure. And apparently Toyota can't say either. I appreciate your help. Perhaps I shouldn't have panicked and gone to the dealer so fast. I will let you know what the dealer comes up with this time. The more educated I...
I doubt my dealer will undo their work and refund my money unless I can prove my car didn't need their own system in the first place.
I had a mechanic do the bypass in March 2019. I'll see what system he used back then.
I was up a tree. I'm female and older and freaked out by those dash lights...
On 8/13/2020 I had my codes read at Toyota dealer. Codes found were P1442, P1445, P2441. Found SAIS switching valve stuck closed. They recommended replacing the air pump assembly/advised replacing the air injection pump.
NOTE: I had bypass system installed by other mechanic 1.5 years earlier...
Thank you. Unfortunately I'm not confident enough to remove my driver's seat and get it back in successfully. If the covers I ordered recently don't look right then I'll give the replacement leather covers a try. Good to know you are happy with the result.
I've had the same codes recur 5 times AFTER having mechanic install the bypass kit and then a year later spending 3,000 at dealer to put in the Toyota system. It's in the shop now. 2007 V-8 Limited. Will report back whenever, if ever, I get rid of the codes and light-up dash.
Wow. After 2 years? It's probably too late for me now because I had to take mine to the dealer. But I'm still going to look into what kit my mechanic used. It's been in and out of dealer 4 times in past two weeks and I'm still getting the same dash lights all coming on after a couple of days...
By now you've probably learned that these bypass kits only work for a year or so. I just had to have my bypass disconnected and fork up 3 grand to get my 2007 Limited V-8 back to reliable status. What did you end up doing? I let mine go with all the darn lights on my dash until it totally...
