Low caster can cause wandering, 3degrees or more helps a ton. Groaning maybe empty/burnt power steering res. Clunks and clanks can be pretty much anything, balljoint, skid plates, control arms, exhaust, bushings, swaybar, battery tiedown...you name it.

Seems like there was some recall way back for this where toyota did an ECU/computer mod to "fix" it. I never did the recall, i can gas and brake at the same time and it wont cut the throttle.

Get the caster up to 3 degrees or more and it will drive straight down the road without all that terrible wandering.

A black light/ UV light will make the antifreeze glow bright pink. Can shine it around the engine bay to help track down the leak. Don't need any extra additives or stuff they sell to make it glow.

These 4th gen t4r like to have close to 3 degrees caster before they want to drive down the road straight.

UV light will make the antifreeze glow bright pink, may help to narrow down location of leak. The antifreeze can look white too, under normal light, when it dries.

Yea its a good thread, be a shame if the pics disappear. Think i used this when I did my install. I noticed an older pic I posted was sideways, went to fix it a couple weeks later and it was already fixed.

Can DIY with some UHMW plastic. Cost me $20 for scrap at the local plastics guy. 2 different size hole saws, a hand saw and drill with a 31/64" bit. Some elbow grease, helps if you already have tools I guess. 4th gen here though, if 5ths are different in any way, i doubt but know not.

Happened to me a couple years ago, i realigned it myself in the garage. Just adjusted the tierods, been fine since, have removed and replaced power steering fluid 2 times. Came to same conclusion, skipped a tooth on the rack.
