I've had the in-channel visors on a previous vehicle without an issue. The visors were made by WeatherTech and came in two different tints (http://www.weathertech.com/store/mvproduct.aspx?ItemGroupId=4&VehId=637&Year=2007)

My vote is front and rear OR none. Someone in my neighborhood has front and rear visors which go in the window track, I think they look great.

You don't need to move backward or forward slightly.... I found engaging 4WD from a dead stop requires cycling from R to N to D, usually goes in within 5-10 seconds. Something about taking the load off the transmission/ transfer case when going to N then loading it up going to R or D (or both)...
