I'm not sure why this should matter to you as an end consumer. Most companies use this type of tool to increase thier profits, not pass on discounts to customers(unless necessary to get their business in the first place). And those prices seem right on par with what we pay here in New Mexico...

Search for the ZUK mod. I did this a few months ago and am very pleased with it. I want to say I'm into the mod for ~$80 and a few hours of labor.

I have them on my 4runner now and I disagree completely, they are not "smooshy" at all. I also had them on my FJ Cruiser and they were stiffer than stock. Both are/were the 5100s.

I have Bilsteins on all of my cars and most likely won't ever switch away from them.

Is the console switch missing? If so, I've seen the switches on ebay although I'm sure there are cheaper places to look too.

If your clutch is fully engaged it shouldn't have any real wear from driving a steep incline. If it's slipping then you have other issues to work on.

Pretty slick trucks, maybe a soft top since you got all the mechanicals worked out.

I think for ~1/3 of that quote you can get a rebuilt long block and forego any of the home rebuilt time. I suppose it all depends on how confindent you are R&Ring your motor.

Oh well, the wait will be worth it.
