After 5 3qt exchanges over 5,000 miles The fluid runs red and I am not rumbling down the road.
If anything else I'll drain, remove pan and replace filter and refill.
Keep in mind I have 2wd and no transer case. The fluid in the beginning was black and smelled foul with 170+k.

Added the shudder stopper approx 300 miles ago didn't help.
With cold transmission:
Removed filler plug
Removed the level check plug - approx 1 quart drained (is that normal?)
Removed drain plug - approx 2 quarts
For a total of just shy of 3 quarts but I'll say 3.

Situation:
2007 4runner SR5 V6 2wd 175,000 mostly highway.
"Shudder / rumble" started about 150k and slowly got worse
Product added with no change yet approx 5 miles (at time of edit)
if problem not solved will begin introducing fresh fluid 3qts at a time

I'm in the same boat. Traded in my wrangler (having a baby) for an 07 with 115k I wouldn't suspect any faults/defects. I have the same question! What is the first stuff to wear out/break?On road use only? BTW just joined first post :)
