If you don't have cold weather I'd just stick to regular oil and do the standard changes. I live in Canada and have used synthetics in my car because we get -40C in the dead of winter and let's just say the regular oils are bit thick when it's that cold... tough to start and doesn't lube up...

While I'm thinking about it, what are some of the main things I should do in terms of tuneups before I really put this vehicle through it's paces? I was planning on an engine flush and new oil, new plugs, new air/fuel filter, maybe flush the rad... anything else? I'm a bit of a DIY backyard...

$600 CAN for a '86 4Runner, I haven't even got to look at it yet my brother-in-law picked it up last night at it's at the family farm :D

Yup, as of last night I picked up this 1986 4Runner with 270,000kms on it for $600CAN Runs like a dream but will need some TLC as far as cosmetics are concerned, so you'll probably see me around here alot more often reading and asking questions :cool:
