Thinking about this, I don't think my '02 car has any temp sensors in the trans.

Thanks for the reply. I'm very sure I got it right and prob'ly expected too much out of a 30 mile drive on level ground. I did add fluid. I'm completely unfamiliar with your temp measuring technique. For that kind of stuff, I need one syllable at a time coaching. I do have an OBD scanner...

I bought the NAPA Cool Flo oil cooler and the Derale 13011 thermostat to install on my 2002 T4R 4WD 3.4L auto and completed the installation today. Now I'm a little concerned. I made sure the bump on the t'stat was on the bottom, with the plastic part up and arrows pointing the right way...

It's deceptive. Looked like the fluid was way down, but when I went to add more I saw that the filler extends down into the tank. It only took a few ounces and it's been about a year since I added any. In the morning I'll look underneath to be sure, but I think I'm good. Many thanks.

Darndest thing - the "wouldn't ya know it," dept. I checked the master cylinder reservoir and the level of fluid Is down - almost to the seam around the tank. OK, didn't touch it, closed the hood and went into town for errands - including to buy some fluid. The lights were out....and they...

It must've been a dirty connection at brake light switch. I tore into it again and all was the same as before. Connected it all back up and the brake lights work now. Didn't repair anything, didn't change anything. Phew. Thanks for all the replies and thoughts, tho' I do think some of you...

Yah, as I said above, I checked the bulbs and all are good. The tail lights and turn signals work fine. Only the brake lights out. Again, I pulled the brake light switch on the pedal and it checks out fine on the ohm meter.

1st try I used an economy sensor and it didn't work too well. Finally gave up and bought the Denso part as recommended on this forum (more $$) and it was fine after that.

I'm surprised. It (the OBD) showed the bad 02 sensor last year, but only specified front sensor. Came to find out both were bad, but it took a while and some fussing with it. When the sensors were bad, the mileage drop was noticeable - couldn't go past 2 gas stations in a row. This time...

Last year my warning lights came on - VSC, ABS, etc., across bottom of instrument panel. OBD showed code for front O2 sensor. Tried cleaning it with no joy, then finally found that "both" O2 sensors were bad and replaced them. Fine since then, then a few weeks ago the lights came on again...
