That was my thinking, too. I had the mechanic double-check the TPS adjustment when I had the truck in for its inspection, and he said it was fine. Having said that, I used a B/A TPS from RockAuto, not a Denso. I haven't verified the adjustment myself yet. The CEL isn't throwing a TPS code, though.

How's your catalytic converter? I don't know whether these trucks use a brick-style catalyst or what, but if it's broken/loose in the housing it could block off the exhaust and choke the engine out.

I did my timing belt and water pump last weekend, and honestly it's not too bad of a job. The only thing that hung me up was tightening the crank pulley bolt, but I got it figured out without too much trouble. If you have all the tools you need, I bet you could get it done in under two hours.

You could also... Run a length of chain (in a loop) from the brake pedal to the steering wheel. Make sure it's good and snug, and lock it with a good padlock. OR Pull the rotor off when you park it.

Yes, basically. This is no longer my daily driver so I'm not worried about having to park it for a while as I look for shims.
