There are some awesome kits on eBay that use all Toyota genuine parts. And there are awesome step by step write ups on this forum. Save the money!

This is something to look forward to since I'm currently sitting at 205,000 on my 2000 sr5.

I don't know how relevant it is to gas mileage but as soon as I did my timing belt (and everything behind the cover) and plugs and wires I saw a noticeable increase in gas mileage.

I wish I would've taken a picture of mine. Same thing. Maybe a little worse. Replaced it at 205,000 as soon as I bought it. Sticker showed last mileage was 65,000!!!

I finally got around to doing the timing belt and water pump on it. At 205,000 miles. What a relief.
