Looks like essentially the same thing! I would've used bigger all thread like you but I got the size made for the antenna so it was easier. Great minds think alike!

Yea I didn't want to rewire the antenna so I figured out a way to do it without doing that. I looked up the whip mod and didn't want to go that route. This was pretty cheap to do. It is functional and works great!

I just replaced mine yesterday and it had the same issue... Don't know how but I've never seen it on any other vehicle before either. Cheap bulb replacement and it still works! Haha doesn't worry me too much
