Dobinsons Suspension - 4th Gen Options

Ha. Yeah. I haven't been on this site in a while. Kind of a bummer it's fading. Lots of great info here. The shop ended up putting ISM59-10574 on the front. Dobinsons site says they are for 2010+ 4Runners but the guys said they line up fine and give a little more travel. Paired up with C59-300C...

Dobinsons Suspension - 4th Gen Options

Looks great! Yeah. I went to the guys at RSG Offroad with an idea of what I wanted and they put together a kit that they said would be great for what I want so I trusted them. It drives great, but I'm going to have to relocate the swaybar. Not a lot of room between it and the spring seat...

Dobinsons Suspension - 4th Gen Options

Hey man. Sorry, just seeing this. I measured 22" from center hub to bottom of front fender (both sides) and 23" from center of hub to bottom of rear fender. Hope that helps!

Dobinsons Suspension - 4th Gen Options

Just wanted to follow-up that the Dobinsons IMS is great on these vehicles. I don't see a way to post images directly into the forum (it seems to want a URL link which I don't have) so I'm just going to put a link to a reddit post I made in case anyone wants to see...

Dobinsons Suspension - 4th Gen Options

Hey Mike, Hopefully this post is still being followed. I've got an 04 4Runner w/V8 227k miles and the setup I'm looking at is below. I just ordered the parts through my local off-road shop. They are doing the install. It's probably overbuilt, but the labor is the same so I figured I'd go for...

Anyone transporting bikes on factory roof rack?

Did a quick sample fitting of my Rocky Mount TieRod and it fit the elliptical bars just fine. If I get a chance to mess around with flicker and all that I'll try to get a pic up, but it fit no problem. You'll want to move the crossbars forward enough so the liftgate doesn't hit the...

Anyone transporting bikes on factory roof rack?

I can't think why some good Rocky Mounts wouldn't work: https://www.amazon.com/RockyMounts-1012-TieRod-Black/dp/B003DKU31A/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1498603771&sr=8-2&keywords=rockymounts+bike+rack I use them on my wife's VW and our Pop Up camper. Haven't tried them on the 4Runner but the strap...

    Buying a high mileage 4runner, verson 4,000,000

Not sure if you're talking V6 or V8. But when mine (V8) had about 145k miles I pulled a 2900 lb camper through the Colorado Rockies, through the crazy altitude terrain of Utah, all the way to San Diego. And back. Not a problem. I'm at 165k miles and plan to drive mine at least another 5 years...

    BFG KO2 or Cooper AT3 275-70-17?

I'm near the end of life on my AT3s. They were pretty darn good. Never had any real problems with them. Not great in snow/ice, but not a dedicated snow tire. Never got stuck. Just kept it steady. They got a little noisy towards the 2nd half of their life. Not a hum, but a whump whump - like a...

    Wheel Bearing??

Someone else already revived this thread from the dead so I'm carrying it on. My 2004 has a whup whup whup that sounds like it's coming from the drivers side rear. Who has done a rear bearing replacement on one of these? I checked with the stealership and they want $850. $450 for the part(s)...

off highway trailer towing with Weight Distribution hitch?

No airbags or anything. That's just the stock setup. The camper isn't fully loaded but there's an extra 125# or so fore of the axle. Nothing in the 4runner cargo area and no passengers (left the wife and kid at home while I went on my joy ride). Once it's loaded up it might get a little bit of...

off highway trailer towing with Weight Distribution hitch?

Yeah. I'll probably get a WDH system with anti-sway built in. I prefer the better safe than sorry. Plus it will help with the bounce when going over expansion joints on bridges etc. The manual is a bit fuzzy on the hitches until you've read it a couple of times. It doesn't help that Toyota...

off highway trailer towing with Weight Distribution hitch?

One thing I noticed in the manual is it states to use anti-sway device when towing over 2000#. However, we got a pop up in January that weight 2650 dry and could go up to 3250 GVWR. I loaded it up a bit with just the built in 7000# WDH (not a full blown equalizer or anderson system) headed to...
