They also make a few different version of adhesive remover- Citrus based, chem based, etc. I'd give the citrus stuff a try. You can also take the face plate off and let it soak in a detergent and water bath to soften it up.

Try some Plastix or a 3M headlight kit inside the lens before you put them together?? And give them lots of time to cure so they don't offgas into the sealed light.

My problem started after I got the new wiper on... It doesn't touch the window any more...
