I would like to do this just for the simplicity of not having to install HID's. Is the throw a lot worse than Halogens or just a little?

i did use oem pads recently but opted for centric rotors from tire rack. They often have free shipping on brake parts over $50 and their centers are painted black to avoid unsighly rust issues. also, if you ever have to replace the calipers, NAPA also has painted black calipers to avoid rust...

im confused? why would a 1" spacer provide a 2" net lift?
