I installed trekmasters with the factory springs and it made a significant difference in handling. The new shocks got rid of my steering wheel shimmy that occurred after hitting any bump. The tech that installed them would've of told me if anything was wrong with with the factory springs...

Check your swaybar bushings, mine were badly worn and causing metal on metal contact. It was very noisy and squeaky. Just swapped them out today for some poly bushings which fixed the problem.

I added a tranny cooler this summer just for insurance. It had the milkshake problem at 100,000 miles and trans/radiator were replaced before I purchased it.

Do 3rd gens have an 18 gallon capacity? I've filled up from empty and can never get more than 12 gallons of fuel. I'm getting about 16mpg, mostly city driving.

I did a search and found out that I needed to grease a few spots underneath and that did the trick. I bought this truck from some mechanics and they couldn't find out what the problem was. Thanks to the internet and public forums.

Did you figure out what the problem was? I'm having the same problem on a newly rebuilt transmission.
