Jeeps are nice, when they work. If reliability's not a factor for you go for it. I'm done with 'em. One thing to consider is how long you intend to own it, poor build quality and inferior materials makes them not age well.

It took me 30-40 tries to get 4lo to engage. Maybe more. Tried using every combination of with and without the center diff locked, trying on a slight slope and letting it roll forward in neutral, trying on flat then back to 4hi and going forward or back 10 ft. then trying again. Pay attention...

Thanks, that's good advice. I actually did get a PPI done, though. He found an exhaust leak the the dealer (a Toyota dealer, go figure...) hadn't. Used that as negotiating leverage. Where I messed up was not getting it up to cruising speed, 65+, during my test drive. Had some real bad wind...

also a convert... I've recently converted from jeepland as well. Had a '93 Cherokee that I bought in 98 and that served me well until 2012. Did some minor mods to it, just a lift kit, wheels and tires. It ran really great up 'till the end, but the floor started rusting out. I had been cavalier...

Maybe a steal, maybe not... I just picked up an '06 w/ 95k for 11.4k last week. Thought I made out alright until I started noticing undisclosed issues. It's at the shop atm... :cry:
