    Stereo question, head units 2002 & 2007 plug-n-play swappable?

Per Crutchfield tech support: Head units are plug-n-play except for: 2002 Pin #9 pink/blue wire auxiliary amp control. No steering wheel remote control plug-in. 2007 Pin #9 blank. Steeing wheel control plug-in. Simple fix!

    Stereo question, head units 2002 & 2007 plug-n-play swappable?

Curious if a 2007 head unit is plug-n-play compatible with a 2002 wires. My cd player is eating them and if I'm pulling stuff apart might as well upgrade. Thanks in advance!

    Intermittent Stalling at Low Speeds/Braking/Deceleration

Thinking differently... Any weird transmission noises? A flex plate going bad will give you a lot of those exact symptoms with no codes. Just a thought. HTH

    P0336 crankshaft sensor

This is a good one and a bit tricky. First, if it's a 2.7l with a normal distributor the first thing you want to check is your "air gap" internal to the distributor. The following link will really help. Help! Code P0336 is got me stumped | Toyota Tacoma Forum Basically the ECM is detecting a...

Corrosion on the vacuum brake booster near the master cylinder

Everything mentioned above... Plus... Clean it real good before painting. Chemical neutralizes or physically neutralize (sandpaper). Brake fluid cuts down to the metal and gets into the metal surface. That's why it's such a bane especially on an exterior surface. Once bubbled needs to be...

Looking at a base model, what am I missing by not having the SR5 package

Good call on a compression check for new buyer. Valve adjustments are a good thing. Non abs should have that block on the rear axle drivers side with in and out brake lines. Weight distribution proportioning valve for the rear brakes. People are always curious what that it. Miss my 2.7l, 2wd...

Looking at a base model, what am I missing by not having the SR5 package

A 2.7l, 2wd, 5 speed Base model is probably the most dependable truck truck you can buy. The 2wd trucks have stock non greaseable u-joints. So if that hasn't been done just make a note. Most replace with greaseable joints. @ 300k your going to have to figure out about replacing the timing...

Looking at a base model, what am I missing by not having the SR5 package

That 2.7l, 5 speed is my favorite combination for 3rd gen 4runner. They are becoming increasingly harder to find. My '96 2.7l, 5 speed went 358k (with orinall stock clutch) never a problem with good maintenance until claimed by rust. Be very critical of rust. More accessories more maintenance...

    Rear Wiper Adapter

Jason, don't think it's on your end. I've used the adapter on a previous 4runner and noticed a bit extra flop using the adapter. For my current 4runner I bought a 13" blade and carefully swapped just the rubber blade and both stainless steel stringers to the factory mount. It's doable. Just...

Odd Braking Issue - Advice Requested

I'm going to assume you've pulled check engine light (CEL) codes and no hard codes which set the check engine light. How about the next level down in OBD2 diagnostics? Any persistent or pending codes? May not set the visible check engine light but would be recorded. Also the ABS on our 3rd...

Definitely gotta tease them out. Tickle them. Twist them left and right. Use you favorite penetrating fluid. You've done this before you know how it works. :) Threw my 3/8" impact on them at first which hits at a max 160 ft-lbs and nothing budged. I was like d*mn. This gonna be a pain. The...

Truck has been completely a South Carolina truck entire life. Never had a front plate. About as rust free as they come East of the Mississippi. Fortunate find. Recently purchased. Never seen salt. Seriously. Use to live Mid-Atlantic. H8te working on rusty trucks. Sorry. May I suggest two...

Oh h*'ll yeah factory Toyota parts. Pedigrees with chain of custody confirmed. Not gonna play games with LBS's. On a prior truck had a passenger side failure @ 300k (original lbj, ball socket failure). Thank Gawd was doing 2mph and failed going over a bad hole in the road. No damage except...

    LBJ's replaced @ 235k ...

Couple notes to mention. After the LBJ's removed noticeable play in the joint. Definitely over the factory recommend 0.5mm. It's a new truck to me and I had been monitoring the joint. Ball joint castle nut was sketchy loose. Maybe 20-30 ft-lbs. We've seen some failures of popping the ball and...
