I currently have the USA-Spec DF-TOY that has 2 sets of RCA adapters. It pretends to be a Toyota factory CD changer.
I heard that the Eclipse 5495 has the same connectors as the stock Toyota radios since they make those units & nav as well. That leads me to the following question:
Does the...
From what I remember reading another board, you need to stick in the NAV DVD when you first set the route. Then you can take it out and it's fine unless you veer too much off path.
I think you can even do NAV & play a DVD if you do this. Someone with a 5435 should verify this though.
DUDE! That's hard to believe. Can anybody confirm this? I'm not talking about seeing it in another post or board.
Can anybody who works at or has a buddy at a car audio shop confirm this? It just doesn't make sense.
Ghetto solution
Since the headlights will automatically turn off if you aciddentally leave them on, why not just leave them on all the time if you want DRL? Your batteries will never go dead and your headlights will always be on.
Me personally, I like my lights off unless it's dark outside.
I was looking at the avn5435 but my buddy at a car audio store said that eclipse is coming out with a second model for this year, i think a 5495. From what I remember, it has a hard drive instead of just the two drives. What this means is that you don't have to have the navigation DVD in all the...

Re: UUUUUGH.....
Hmm. I was under the impression that the double DIN aftermarket units would fit in there. People are talking about the Pioneer AVIC-D1 or the Kenwood DDX7015 Thread on T-4R here.
So are you sure it's not a double-DIN size? Or are the double-DIN HUs always a little smaller?
I want one too!
I just got an OmniFi from Woot! and that why I'd like two separate consoles in the 2 DIN slot: One for a receiver and one for the MP3 OmniFi console.
They do exist for other cars & trucks.
