I just bought a '99 SR5 for $4350 (Canadian). It had higher mileage than the one you're looking at but looked to be in better shape. I bet you could find a better deal.

Sorry good idea. The answer is to buy one that already has a hitch! My understanding is that 90-95's are not compatible with the years I am looking at: 97,98,99. I am pretty close to buying one (99 SR5), and it has a hitch.

Can anyone tell me if hitches from the 1990-95 era are compatible with a 1997 or 98? I've phoned 2 Toyota dealers and they aren't sure (how can that be?). One thought I might have to drill holes for an older hitch to work. Any ideas?
