    U-Haul Question

A 2" ball is what you need. It's a good universal ball size. As far as wiring adapter, I always had a 7-pin adapter just in case, but our trucks (at least the Limited from my own experience) will take either a 7 pin or 4 pin from the trailer with no need for an adapter. My ball mount has a 2"...

2011 4runner - does your cruise control suck too?

I agree on the suckiness of the CC going up hills. What I particularly don't like is the fact it will gradually accelerate going up the hill just as you would driving it yourself. Then all of a sudden, it downshifts and punches it for no reason just for a little hill! Shifting it into 4th does...

    SR5 17" Wheels on Limited

I negotiated it as part of the sale, and didn't have to pay anything out of pocket (nor was anything listed on the receipt for it either.) The odd thing is that I now get post cards and emails about service on my 2010 SR5...but I have a Limited. Oh well.

    SR5 17" Wheels on Limited

I had the dealership switch my LTD wheels/tires with an SR5 when I took delivery in Feb 2010, so I don't have an opinion as to ride quality. My reasoning was at the time, there were 10x more tire options for 17" 265/70 than the stock 20s. I don't do much off-roading, so I put on a set of...

    Michelin LTX ms2

I am running the LTX MS2 as well. For a highway tire, they are incredible. Compared to the stock Bridgestone's, these are 10x better. They aren't the best for off road because they can still fill up with mud fast, but last year when we got a lot of ice in DFW, Texas these things didn't have any...

    Installed Borla Exhaust

I got mine for about $550 shipped from Autopartswarehouse.com. I had a 15% off coupon. You can hear the lower sound exhaust hum at 70 mph because the RPMs hit 2000, but it doesn't sound too obnoxious. Mine usually gets drowned out by my K&N when accelerating. Butt dyno says I can tell a...

    Stereo/Nav unit

Sweet, thanks for the pics Harper. I'll take mine apart and take pics and post them so we all can compare. The sticky on the forum for taking everything off is money. I didn't think about the GPS antenna. I always assumed the shark fin on top had the XM, GPS, and Safety Connect built in.

    Stereo/Nav unit

Yeah, that's why it's still for sale. It's a $1,400 option when building a Toyota. According to the parts catalog, the unit is $4,600. I wish someone had a diagram of the wiring harnesses with labels. Or pictures of the backs of both the JBL-Nav and JBL-NoNav units. I've looked at the wiring...

    Stereo/Nav unit

You may very well be right. I was just thinking about my backup camera. Since I don't have nav, it is in the mirror, so I wonder if the wiring harness for JBL-NAV has a spot for the camera... Bluetooth Mic and all the other stuff should be the same... There is a factory Nav unit for sale on...

    Stereo/Nav unit

I have a Limited JBL Non-Nav. I decided to get it w/o Nav at the time of purchase to save some money. I wonder if the JBL Nav from the Trail would fit exactly in the hole left if I took out my Non-Nav, and vice-versa for your truck? It seems like it would and you would not need any fit...

    5th Gen Y-Pipe?

I like the Borla exhaust. It's got a nice throaty rumble at start-up, idle, and acceleration. It's not a bad sound for a 6-cyl, and it quiets down at cruising speed. I like that it is stainless, and the install went pretty well. It is also lighter than stock. You don't even need to lift the car...

    5th Gen Y-Pipe?

I just installed my new Borla exhaust last night, and was amazed at the craptastic stock y-pipe. I know it's the lowest part of the vehicle, but I didn't know that where the Y comes together, it's still 2 pipes squished into the bigger one. I should have taken a picture. You can see it right...

Anyone here going to FJ Summit this week?

Man, that is so awesome Harper! I can't wait for URD or TRD's supercharger. It looks like Gadget's is using the stock airbox? His truck looks awesome. I really want to go. Next summer I have two weddings to go to in July, so it looks like 2013!

    5th gen supercharger coming

A group buy would be a good idea, or at least buy it in pairs. Underdog Racing Development At the bottom of the page is a pretty good cost savings of $2,000 if you were to buy two+ vs. one.

    USB vs. IPOD

Toyota has kind of deceptive marketing and descriptions when it comes to the USB/iPod interface. It says USB 2.0, but the speed is listed at 12 mb/s. This is actually USB 1.1 speeds. If it was truly USB 2.0, the speed should be 480 mb/s which is plenty fast for iPods or USBs. I think this is why...
