    1997 3rd 4Runner: exhaust gasses in coolant

If you’re comfortable driving it to another state to get fixed, maybe you can wait until the spring and do the work yourself. If it was me, the plan would depend on time available. Pretty sure that head gaskets require a motor pull, so that labor time is a wash. Donor engine still requires...

    Light Bar Install

Yeah, I ordered an OEM fog light switch that I will hook up in series to control whether or not it comes on with the high beams, it just hasn’t arrived yet.

    Light Bar Install

After seeing what small light bars can do, plus almost nailing a deer on dark road, I decided to take the pinnacle of 90’s lighting technology to the modern age, hah. I didn’t want to put in a big honkin bar up top, so here’s what installing a rough country 20” dual row bar in the bumper looks...

Sagging 3rd-gen Toyota 4-Runner rear door hatch struts lift supports

Was debating getting the aftermarket struts and some nylon bushings, but ended up just buying new OEM. They come as the full assembly already attached to the brackets for $40ea. 4 bolts each side, maybe took 10min total to swap out both. I think it was worth it for a little bit extra vs the...

    new axle seal leaking...FIXED

This is why I’d rather buy the tools and do it myself, then I know it’s done right the first time. This job was a real pain for me cause it’s tough to setup the axle in the press by yourself. Anyways, glad you got it figured out. To the shop guys defense, he’s going to be looking at a manual...

Power Steering Pump or Steering Rack? *VIDEO*

I had a power steering groan start a few days ago and fixed it with a fluid flush. The screen looked ok, but the fluid was very black. A bunch of wheel turning later and now it looks like new. Already had some trans fluid, so it was a free fix. Flush the fluid before trying anything else!

The 3rd Gen All Questions Allowed Thread

Looking at a half rack, mostly to haul bigger stuff that won’t fit inside. Most of the aftermarket seems to use square extruded aluminum cross bars, like this. I also have a kayak rack and a bike rack that fit on the factory cross bars. These seem to be made for bars that are of a more...

The 3rd Gen All Questions Allowed Thread

Sounds ballpark. Depends on how much braking you did recently. After I fixed my issue, I was getting 130ish .

Why lock the steering wheel when replacing rack bushings?

Weird, the bolts still have to go in the same holes, and besides the passenger side collar, they go directly through the rack. Don’t see how the steering could shift unless maybe you got an alignment while the vertical bushings were gone. I did mine while the diff was out, which made it easier...

Tundra Brake Fit Issue - resolved

New drums seem to have solved it. Braking is smooth at any speed for now. Time will tell if there is over adjusting going on. I wonder if the last set of drums were so thin that they were able to get hot and possibly warp a bit.
