Just got my 96 Tacoma back on the road. I replaced the oil pump seal and front main seal. I bought a kit with oil pump cover and replaced the phillips head bolts with LCE hex allen bolts. While I was in there I replaced the water pump and installed the new oil pump cover even though everything...

    NEED HELP! Hub install

I will attest that the link above provided by Doug R to the article about the gap after bearing install leads to a great thread. The dust seal on the back can get bent which results in the appearance that the bearing is not all the way tightened. Thanks Doug for posting that. Hopefully this...

Replacement Wheel Bearing - HUB Seal/Dust Seal?

I have the blue pit ready to install. I was just waiting for my torque wrench to arrive. My issue is that I can see some limited damage to the dust seal on the back side of the steering knuckle. I was hoping this would be plug and play, but it's taken me deeper. I'm concerned that if I...

Replacement Wheel Bearing - HUB Seal/Dust Seal?

Thanks 8000. Is it possible to remove the steering knuckle without replacing the wheel bearing? I am debating finishing the bearing job, and then working on the CV's and these seals in a few weeks. If that's a bad idea, please tell me my thinking is off base. Thanks

    Front wheel bearing seal

Thanks y=mx+b... I missed your response last night after midnight RMT. Now looking at your labels on the pic, I agree that it's the seal on the knuckle. I do have the bearing / hub assembly, and it came the o-ring already installed. Looking at other threads on the forum regarding seal A0001's...

    Front wheel bearing seal

I'm wondering if there are two pieces to the inner dust seal? Front wheel bearing seal question 90316-A0001 & 43442-35060 as shown in the link above. Part #2

    Front wheel bearing seal question

TW - what is the part number of the dust seal you were referring to? Can it be installed from the hub side of the steering knuckle? Thank you

    Front wheel bearing seal

Here you can see the nasty condition of the bearing, and the garter spring found behind the bearing assembly. I don't think this could be from the bearing, so I assume it's the from the dust seal.

    Front wheel bearing seal

I see from your tutorial that there is a seal on the outside (which I believe would be considered inside) of the steering knuckle. I'm hoping that isn't the culprit as I don't have alot of confidence removing the CV. Is there another seal behind the one A0001 which is replaced from the bearing...

Replacement Wheel Bearing - HUB Seal/Dust Seal?

The seal is located inside the steering knuckle and only visible when the hub / bearing assembly is removed. I found a garter spring that I believe must've come from there.

    Front wheel bearing seal

Thanks for the reply y=... No, I don't think so. That looks to be on the inner CV. My seal is in the steering knuckle. It would be visible once you pull out the bearing assembly. See photo. I found a garter spring which must've come from that seal, and I don't want to be replacing this...

    Front wheel bearing seal

I'm in the midst of a front bearing replacement, and wondering if this 93316-72001 is installed from the bearing side? Is there an updated part # as the old one is no longer available at Toyota. Do I just remove the abs sensor and install from the bearing side? Does the cv have to come out...

Replacement Wheel Bearing - HUB Seal/Dust Seal?

I'm pulling apart my front hub / wheel bearing assembly, and want to know if this seal (90316-A0001) is installed from the inside of the hub, or from the inner / back side? I assume it's bad because I found a little spring behind the bearing assembly. Do I have to remove the drive shaft and...

    2011 T4R Front Wheel Bearing

Thanks everyone. I'm going to do just the one for now. I have a 1996 (hunt truck) and 2001 (daily driver) Taco's and have never had issues. The 96 has 292k. I'm waiting to hear back on assembly at dealer, but I'm probably going to order full assembly at Bluepit. Seems like a no-brainer. I...
