What did you do to/in your 5th Gen today?!
Toyota quoted me 700.00 for the hatch struts on my wife's 07 Sequoia, I was able to purchase them from the local O'Reilly auto parts store for 35.00 a piece. Installing them is literally 2 minutes each.- Celbob

I agree with flyrv9, something may have been shut in the LG causing it to bind, pushing in on it should relieve any pressure.- Celbob
