Depending on application sometimes too hard = brittle and that may have been something the Toyota Engineers took into consideration. For a vehicle with as many studs as ours have perhaps they wanted additional ductility sine a lot of these get pounded off road?

Never been in a newer one but I love my BJ73. Diesel, 5-speed turbocharged and intercooled tractor. No creature comforts, noisy, and primitive!

I think most are paying msrp or a tad less, the exception being the new cav blue. If your credit is shot I would bet a good portion of that payment is higher interest
