I forgot to mention that my plan is to start by pulling the plugs and having a look at them, but I wanted to know if anyone had experienced a similar problem and had a better suggestion from experience.

Thanks for the tip, Hkwoof. Have you given it a try yet? Here we are 4 years later and my wheezing compressor is still going strong, so I'm glad I didn't pay to replace it. I will probably try adding a little coolant soon.

Found it! I disconnected the brake controller harness and the fuse no longer blows. I'll play with that later to see if I can figure out why it was causing a problem, but thankfully I can safely drive my truck again. Cheers!
