thanks! I was going through changing the plugs (man what a PITA! worse than my 350z! ) found a plug wire just sitting on the plug. Hmm, idle rough, hesitation? Running on 5 cylinders! LOL. plugged it back in, took it for a spin, BAM! All fixed. Now I know why I bought a toyota as a beater :D

I get a low, slightly erratic idle and part-throttle hesitation on my 94, 160k on the odo. I was told by the previous owner that it has a valve cover gasket leak.....I think that might be contributory, and I've purchased some new NGK plugs and new wires to also attempt to eliminate things...

I do my own tuning, but I'm 5 hours from home and therefore unable to tear into her vehicle. I see the vac line from the fuel press regulator just rests on the valve cover.....this might cause a problem in itself.....but I may just suggest to her what you all think....to take it to toyota.

I just have a feeling it might be the fuel pump priming poorly, or a bad relay somewhere. it's not serious enough that the car runs poorly....it's in excellent shape, but I'm just afraid the hard cranking will kill the starter pretty fast.
