    Old to New 4Runner

That is my favorite body style Toyota truck. There is an older gentleman I see at the recycling center from time to time that has one just like the one pictured minus the camper shell that is absolutely pristine. I've offered to buy it a couple of times but he says it's his till the day he dies.

    Surprisingly good MPGs

I read an article in a boating magazine back when gas was outrageous that talked about getting the best fuel economy while towing. One of the tips given was to keep the RPM's at or below 2000, towing or not. I've used that since I read it and have found that it seems to work quite well. I will...

    First Beach Ride

The sand up there isn't to bad to drive on at all. It's packed pretty hard and it looks like a road. Its weird if you want to fish or swim you have to park in the middle and poeple either drive by right by the water or way up by the dunes. Down around Hatteras is where it's really soft. Ramp 44...

    Electric cooling fan conversion?

Somebody correct me if I am wrong, but wasn't the electric fan brought about by front wheel drive cars with transverse mounted engines? They had to use electric fans because the crank pulley was on the side, not the front, not because they were looking for more fuel economy. I looked into it...

E-Locker and Differential Breather install, Trail Edition

The front diff, transfer case, and transmission breathers. I can't seem to locate them on the firewall. I swear this 4Runner is making me feel like such a noob. I've wheeled fords and dodges for years and felt like I had a good knowledge base for those vehicles, but this Toyota has me scratching...

E-Locker and Differential Breather install, Trail Edition

Do you have pics of where they are mounted? I looked and did not see them, but I may have overlooked them. Thanks!

Is KDSS and Multi-Terrain Select Related?

I was under the impression that the multi terrain select also controlled the KDDS system, but after being mildly rebuked by 1engineer in another thread about not knowing what I was talking about I did some more research and now understand better what it is and how it works. Now I'm just trying...

    4H Difference in '04 and '16 SR5 4WD

Do pardon my incorrect terminology, I suppose I could have relayed my point more concisely. Bottom line is I had a very positive experience using A-TRAC in the very same sand you have driven in and will likely drive in on future occasions.

    4H Difference in '04 and '16 SR5 4WD

There's a thread about A-TRAC with a lot a different opinions about it. I'll just share my experience with it. Last year at ramp 44, right by the Hatteras Light House (I know you know where that is) I hit some real deep soft sand. I was in 4hi with KDDS in the sand/loose rock setting. I got...

    Canoe Setup?

I secure it with two belly straps constructed from webbing and cam lock buckles. The straps follow the contour of the hull and go straight down to the cross bars INSIDE THE BRACKETS. Be sure to buy good quality straps like those from NRS. This is not an application for some cheap Made in...

    Do unto others . . .

Well said. What goes around comes around. You reap what you sow. In the end it all means the same, you cannot expect to receive help if you yourself have been unwilling to help others in the past. I've found my self on both ends of the snatch strap many times. Fortunately as I've gotten older...
