Well I checked all the wires to the switch and found one that was broken right where it went into the tailgate. It must have broken from being bent all these years. I cut out the bad part and added an extra piece of wire. Tested it and it all worked fine. I still needed the replacement...

Can anyone tell me what wires to connect on the switch connector inside the door but just below the tailgate garnish under the switch. I want to test from there as well. It is a 4 pin connector.

I finally had time to do some tests and the weather was cooperating. It was a practically balmy 30F degrees outside. I tested the Blue and Blue/Red wires on the harness going to the ECU. They each had a constant 12V which they are supposed to have. ECU-B fuse is good as well. The door latches...

I removed the latch, cleaned and re-lubed it. It still will not activate. I tried to activate it with an external power source and nothing this time. I noticed a ticking sound when applying the power but no motor sound. Surprisingly enough, if I close thr tailgate a little harder, it will...

Even if the latch were gummed up, wouldn't the actuator still make a sound when unlocking or locking the system? Mine does not make any sound.

When I closed the tailgate, the actuator did not engage, so the tailgate was loose but still connected. I temporarily rectified this by putting external power into the actuator and it engaged. At this moment the tailgate is closed securely but the actuator will not engage.
