The dearlership should take care of the issue if you bought it new from them, the one i worked for would anyway, and when you take it back to them tell them you would like it clayed to remove the rail dust because there are plenty of "quick fix" solution to just hide it for awhile, good luck

I'v worked in detailing for several years and seen both the mulch spots and rail dust (whiched is cause buy red hot metal flakes from the train's brakes melting threw the plastic shipping cover and clear coat while being shipped) the only way to tell the differance is by touch if you can feel it...

I would recommend purchasing a couple bars of paint clay and an orbital (any where from 30-100$ at any car parts store) after washing use the clay (always going in 1 direction) over the entire painted surface then wash again, then with the orbital and using a wool bonnet with a clear cut...

Its hard to tell from the pic but i'v seen that alot over the years its probably the result of a cheap re paint job which does not have to be reported to Car-Fax more then likely a previouse owner scratched the hell out of it maybe on lease and got a cheap paint job done for re sale or trade in...

I know the thread is a month old and the problem is probably already taken care of but i worked in a stealership detail center for 4 years and 3M make an actual tree sap remover that works perfect, just spray and wait a minute then it comes right off with minimal effort from a plastic razor...
