I verified that the distributor is at #1 tdc on the compression stroke. Pulled the plug and verified that compression was coming out the hole when turning the crank. distributor slid right in to the #1 spot. Which ground wires are you referring to? I know there is the one that has a connector...
Hello everyone, I am in dire need of some help. The beautiful 3vze has broken me. I have heard rumors of these engines bringing fearless men to their knees after countless repair attempts. Just never thought it would do the same to me.
Anyway, like the title states, I have just rebuilt this...
You can also unlatch their air filter box and push the vafm door with a screwdriver or some sort of elongated objected. It will cause the fuel pump to operate. Make sure ignition is in on position
Thanks man! Yeah, after it’s all said and done. I don’t know if I would still go with the 3.0. A lot of hidden nightmares that decided to make this rebuild take way longer then it should.. on a positive not. Pretty sure I have the issue addressed and hopefully the engine willl idle today

Quick Fix for better Throttle Response, Better Shifts (Throttle Cables)
Check this thread out. I googled your throttle body setup. I’m a 2nd gen owner and saw this thread on cable adjustment. Make sure your cable isn’t to worn out tho
Possibly your blend door/blend door actuator arm making the noise. Does your air channel to the multiple locations available on your climate control system. For example switch from feet, to face, to defroster?
Check if the outside protectant sheathing that covers the cable didn’t come undone at the crimp that holds it in place at the beginning of the assembly. My sheathing came out of the end crimp for one of my tailgate locks and it would not allow me to open the rear.
My mechanism was super rusted too. I grinder it all down and luckily my rollers were still intact. Nice find. I bet some skateboard bearings would work
Does not sound like a rod knock. Sounds like your standard valve train chatter. Can you record a video of the noise when you rev up the engine.
A lot of people are not familiar the type of shims required to adjust the lash on these engines. I’ve dealt with plenty of 3vzes that have been...
