Also you might want to check if it still happens with the unit out of the dash. My Scion will buzz/whine if the wires going to the amp are too close the the main harness behind the radio.

The Scion unit has the 2 connections for the antenna. At least my single disc does. The second one is hidden though. If you take the radio apart you will see the smaller connector. You could drill a hole so you can use the second one. Maybe this will help your reception.

You can use the AUX-Box from PAC. You will need the adaptor cable available at the Toytoa dealer to adapt theold big plug to the new small one. I have a Aux-Pod wired into my navigation system and it works great. The Aux-Box/Pod is the only aux in adaptor I could get to work out of Soundgate...
You should be able to use an Aux-Box from PAC pac-audio.com
It has worked for me on every Toyota I have installed it on. Including Scion and 04 Camry Navigation units. I believe the only one to work on the Camry units.
